Amy’s love of coffee came to when she lived in Rome; she still dreams of afternoons with granita di caffé in the square adjacent to the Pantheon. Amy’s coffee education began while working as a barista in the sleepy seaside town of Akaroa, New Zealand. There, she was trained by the owner of the boutique roastery Hummingbird Coffee. Amy has been your awesome Grand Central Barista for the past couple of years, but will now be transplanting to Philly to manage the new Joe Ritt.
Hailing from DC, Jaime has lived up and down the mid-Atlantic his whole life. He moved to Philadelphia in July 2011 with No Face Performance Group, a theater/performance company he co-founded in college. He's always loved coffee, but the Philly scene stoked the fire as it were -- and here he is. Jaime loves dogs. And cats. And books, records, cassettes, food, drink & riding his bike. He is one of the two tall boys.
My love for coffee began when I was in middle school after weekend coffee drinking with my Nanny (grandmother). Ever since then, working at a coffee shop has been on my bucket list. I’m shy yet super sassy and “ruff around the edges”…codename: not a girly girl. I currently attend school at Drexel where I study English, philosophy and public health. My interests are: music, literature, writing poetry, being a master chef/baker and collecting Converse sneakers.
A born & bred San Diegan, Sasha gets excited about any and all things; great books, new music, old music, concerts, lands to be traveled, languages to be learned, delicious food, spontaneous dance parties, and of course, a great cup of coffee. When Sasha learned Joe was opening shop in Philly she got very excited and applied immediately. Among other things, she has trained to be an opera singer, she's a well seasoned traveler, she speaks fluent Farsi, and she has an unhealthy obsession with cookies.
Mike, raised in Jersey, became interested in coffee when certain college classes began at 7am. Now out of college, 7am seems like sleeping in, but Mike has retained his interest in coffee. He recently moved to Philadelphia and is proud to be among the first Philly Joeys. In his free time Mike makes music, cooks, and reads.
Kevin, hailing from NJ, soon to be Philly. He began exploring the wonders of coffee while attending Rutgers University for Media Studies, working in radio as Director of Production and writing for CMJ in New York City. Kevin loves a good cortado and enjoys taking the time to craft a perfect pour-over. He is currently working on his bar certification and cannot wait to pour your latte. But sorry ladies, this barista is taken.
holly, born in raised in woodsy new england, crawled down to south philadelphia to live a less verdant lifestyle. as a child, she would often ask to try a sip from her mom's coffee cup and promptly spit it out. but now, when she isn't sipping or thinking about coffee, she's reading, riding her bike, and cooking every vegetable that exists.
